Age requirement:

12 years or older (divers aged 12-14 will earn a Junior Rescue Diver qualification)

Prerequisites:

Advanced open water diver/ Junior Advanced open water with completed Underwater Navigation Dive and EFR primary and secondary care training within the past 24 months.

Time commitment:

approx. 10-12 hours

What does the course entail?

Theory:

Complete 5 knowledge development segments including the knowledge reviews and the rescue diver exam

Rescue exercises in open water:

• Self rescue review
• Tired diver
• Panicked diver
• Response from shore, boat or dock (responsive diver)
• Distressed diver underwater
• Missing diver
• Surfacing the unresponsive diver
• Unresponsive diver at the surface
• Exiting the unresponsive diver
• First aid for pressure-related injuries and oxygen administration
• Response from shore/boat to unresponsive (non-breathing) diver at the surface

Rescue scenarios in open water:

• Unresponsive diver underwater
